On May 8, 2025, the European Commission proposed retaliatory tariffs on up to €95 billion ($107 billion) worth of U.S. imports, contingent upon the outcome of ongoing trade negotiations. The proposed measures target sectors including aerospace, automotive, chemicals, machinery, and agriculture. A public consultation on these measures is open until June 10, 2025.
