Efforts to Scrap Section 122 Tariffs Gather Steam

Congressional opponents of President Trump’s fallback tariff strategy moved this week to dismantle the 10 percent global tariff imposed under Section 122 of the Trade Act of 1974, arguing that the administration is using an obsolete balance-of-payments authority to preserve trade leverage after the Supreme Court struck down the President’s broader IEEPA tariffs last month.
