Bill to Restrict Farm Sales to Foreigners Revived

House and Senate lawmakers have reintroduced legislation to prohibit the sale of US agricultural land to any company or individual tied to the governments of Iran, North Korea, China or Russia.

The Protecting America’s Agricultural Land from Foreign Harm Act would enhance accountability and reporting on the subject. According to USDA data, foreign investors own approximately 45 million acres of US agricultural land.
