President Trump paused for three days a planned 50% tariff on roughly US$20 billion of Canadian goods while Washington and Ottawa try to finalize an agreement. Trump declared the countries “have a DEAL,” but Prime Minister Mark Carney offered a more guarded assessment, saying negotiators had made “substantial progress” while important work remained.
