The United States will host the 10th session of the Conference of the States Parties (COSP) to the United Nations Convention against Corruption (UNCAC) in Atlanta from December 11-15, 2023.
The Department of State's Coordinator on Global Anti-Corruption Richard Nephew has been nominated to serve as the President of the tenth session of the Conference. Of note, the United States is organizing signature pre-events on December 9 and 10, including an Academic Symposium, a Young Changemakers Event, and a Civil Society Forum
The United Nations Convention against Corruption is the only legally binding universal anti-corruption instrument. A highlight of the Convention is the inclusion of a specific chapter on asset recovery, aimed at returning assets to their rightful owners, including countries from which they had been taken illicitly.
