U.S. Trade Deficit Jumps 24% on Surge in Capital-Goods Imports

The July figures point to a renewed widening of the U.S. trade gap after its sharp contraction earlier this year, driven less by consumer imports than by a surge in capital goods, particularly computers and related equipment.
