DDTC: Michael J. Vaccaro is New Chief

 Michael Vaccaro is the new permanent Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Defense Trade, responsible for The Directorate of Defense Trade Controls (DDTC).

As of Tuesday, January 16, 2024, DAS Vaccaro began overseeing DDTC’s mission to ensure commercial exports of defense articles and defense services advance U.S. national security and foreign policy objectives. 

Prior to this appointment, DAS Vaccaro performed the duties of Principal Deputy Assistance Secretary of Defense for Industrial Base Policy for the Department of Defense.  He also served as the Director of the Department of Commerce’s Bureau of Industry and Security, Office of Strategic Industries and Economic Security, where he oversaw defense trade and industrial base programs.
